What is a "Polaroid Play?"
A Polaroid Play is a short, original theatrical piece created under intense time constraints, much like how a Polaroid photo captures a fleeting moment in an instant.
In The Polaroid Plays festival, playwrights, directors, and actors collaborate to develop and stage 10-minute plays in just a few weeks. For this rendition, each script is inspired by a line from Grimm’s Fairy Tales, written in one week, and rehearsed for only 12 hours before being performed.
Like a Polaroid picture, these plays are snapshots of creativity—brief, spontaneous, and full of life—offering audiences a raw, in-the-moment theatrical experience.
Meet Our Co-Artistic Directors
Hey! We're Aubree Bowen and Curtiss Johns, and we're Co-Artistic Directors of Cease & Desist Theatre Collective at Stuart Rogers' Studios. Cultivating creativity is a huge part of why we love being members of this artistic community, and we're lucky to have someone like Stuart who champions ideas like this play festival.
All proceeds from this show will go towards future short play and film festivals and/or developing one of these shorts into a full-length production.
We hope to continue to provide more opportunities and experiences for SRS community members as they grow their artistic visions.
