Restoring Bereaved Family Functioning After Adult Suicide

Tue October 21, 2025 Live, Remote via Zoom 9:30am - 12:30pm EST
Newville, PA 17241 US

Workshop Information

Description:

Suicide is a growing public health concern that World Health Organization data projects affect 700,000 plus families annually. Rising violent death rates among middle-aged and older adults lend to complex family dynamics and biopsychosocial-spiritual grief manifestations across the system. This case-based workshop discusses approaches to advancing sub-systems grief management strategies in connection with best practices in family-level postvention treatment from a Family Resilience Theory perspective. Participants will engage in case analysis and professional dialogue in applying the strategies and practices to client/patient care.

Learning Objectives:

1. Discuss changes in a family’s biopsychosocial-spiritual well-being and dynamics after adult suicide in relation to assessment and treatment methods.

2. Describe Family Resilience Theory’s postvention methods and sub-system grief management enhancement strategies in relation assessment and treatment planning utilizing case studies.

3. Demonstrate the application of Family Resilience Theory and best practices in restoring family functioning after adult suicide across therapeutic processes to practice through case study analysis.
