NWANA Challenges
NWANA Challenges are an easy way to begin participating with the Nordic Walking Association of North America.
Challenges may be virtual, weekly, monthly, local, community-based, or connected to future NWANA events and competition pathways.
Nordic Walking participants, walkers, and runners are welcome. Some challenges may include open participation options for walking and running while official NWANA Nordic Walking divisions, rankings, or championship standings are scored separately when applicable.
Why Join a Challenge?
Challenges help people stay active, submit activity, build consistency, connect with others, and become part of the larger NWANA pathway.
They are also a practical way for NWANA to grow participation, local groups, wellness teams, clubs, event pathways, and future competition opportunities across North America.
Who Can Participate?
NWANA Challenges are designed for a wide range of participants, including:
- Nordic Walking participants
- walkers and runners
- beginners
- experienced athletes
- local NW Groups
- clubs and teams
- schools and universities
- workplace wellness groups
- community organizations
- families and supporters
How Challenges Work
Participants register for a challenge, complete their activity during the challenge period, and submit their result online when results are enabled.
Depending on the challenge, participants may submit distance, time, activity details, or other required information. Some challenges may allow multiple activity submissions during the challenge period.
Challenge formats may continue to develop as NWANA builds more events, series, groups, and competition pathways.
From Challenge to Pathway
A challenge can be a first step toward a larger NWANA role.
Participants may later choose to join an NW Group, get licensed, enter competitions, support a fund, start a team, invite an employer, or help bring Nordic Walking activity to their community.
