Abstract Guidelines

Abstracts should include methods, results, and conclusions.

Please limit each submission to 500 words (excluding title and authorships).

Abstracts should not contain citations, images, or embedded headings.

Please enter the title in title case not all caps.

Ways to Present

Oral Presentations

Oral presentations will be 20 minutes long with an appropriate slide deck. Additional time will be given for questions. To assist with scheduling and fairness to the other speakers, presenters will be stopped at the allotted time.

Lightening Talks

Lightening talk presentations should be approximately 5 minutes with 1-2 slides. Additional time will be given for questions. These short format presentations are designed for quick data dissemination for ongoing projects or brief discussions of repeated clinical findings.

Poster Presentations

Posters should be no larger than 36in X 48in. Poster presenters are required to be present at their poster during the scheduled poster session.

Poster guidelines and helpful tips and tricks will be uploaded at a later date.

Who can submit an abstract?

We welcome abstracts from:

  • Students (of any discipline)
  • Researchers
  • Clinicians
  • Veterinarians
  • Educators

We are encouraging any attendees who would like to present to submit an abstract!

When are abstracts due?

Abstracts are due on July 31, 2026 at 11:45pm CST.

How many abstracts can I submit?

We are currently not limiting the number of abstract submissions, and abstract submission is free of charge.

How will my abstract be evaluated?

We are forming a scientific committee to review abstracts and rank them based on abstract quality and novelty of science, with an emphasis on educational content.

What should the abstract be about?

All topics related to Bartonella are accepted. Here are some example areas of interest:

  • Genetics
  • Ecology
  • Epidemiological surveillance
  • Case reports
  • Disease mechanisms
  • Co-infection dynamics
  • Transmission
  • Prevention
  • Therapeutics
  • Immunology

When can I expect a decision on my abstract?

We are aiming to send out decisions by early October 2026.
