Brittney Reese

Brittney Reese stands as one of the most decorated track and field athletes in Mississippi history and among the greatest women’s long jumpers the sport has ever produced. Raised in Gulfport, Mississippi, Reese rose from high school standout to global champion, building a career defined by dominance on the world’s biggest stages. A four-time Olympian and three-time Olympic medalist, she captured Olympic gold in London in 2012 and added silver medals in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo, becoming just the third woman in world history to win three Olympic long jump medals. Her remarkable consistency placed her among an elite group of athletes to reach four Olympic finals in the event.

Reese’s international success is matched by a career filled with historic achievements. A seven-time world champion and eight-time world championship medalist, she became the first long jumper—male or female—to win gold at five consecutive World Championship meets. She claimed 13 U.S. national titles, represented Team USA 15 times, and ranked among the world’s all-time best with a personal-best jump of 7.31 meters. At Ole Miss, Reese dominated collegiate competition, winning two NCAA championships, earning five All-America honors, capturing five SEC titles, and being named SEC Field Athlete of the Year three times. Her extraordinary accomplishments established her as one of the most successful athletes in both Ole Miss and Mississippi sports history.

Beyond her achievements in competition, Reese has dedicated herself to service and leadership. Through the Brittney Reese Family Foundation, she has supported scholarships, community outreach, and charitable initiatives, including providing holiday assistance to families in need. Her contributions to sport and community have earned numerous honors, including induction into the Ole Miss Athletics Hall of Fame and recognition as one of the top track and field athletes of the 2010s. Reese’s legacy is defined not only by championships and records, but by her lasting impact as a role model, champion, and ambassador for Mississippi athletics on the global stage.
