The Montgomery County Suicide Prevention Task Force is hosting its first annual symposium, "Suicide Prevention for At-Risk Populations," on Wednesday, October 21 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Cedarbrook Country Club in Blue Bell. Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Professionals, Educational and Counseling Staff, and other Community Advocates are invited to attend this informative session. CEUs will be provided by Gwynedd Mercy University Bachelor of Social Work Program, and Act 48 credit by the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. In addition to the educational component, meals and snacks are included along with great networking opportunities.

Jordan Burnham

Jordan is a public speaker who discusses the mental health issues and disorders that affect so many of us. He is a survivor of a suicide attempt during his senior year in high school and shares his powerful story of fighting depression and finding recovery. His presentation is meant to inspire, educate, and allow others to know they’re not alone.

Jordan has received numerous accolades for his work in mental health advocacy and has been profiled by Sports IllustratedPEOPLE Magazine and USA Today. His piece, “Unbreakable,” for ESPN’s E:60 was nominated for an Emmy, and Jordan was interviewed by Anderson Cooper for the 2018 CNN special, “Finding Hope: Battling America’s Suicide Crisis.”

Jordan is currently Director of Speaker Development and Training at Minding Your Mind in Bryn Mawr, PA.

Topics of interest include youth, LGBTQ+ communities, older adults, military/VA/first responders, and other at‑risk populations.
