UTD & Ionospheric Density

UT Dallas Measures Ionospheric Density During Eclipse

The ionosphere is a region of the space environment near Earth charactertized by free electrons produced by solar radiation.

Therefore, the reduction in solar radiation during the eclipse will impact the ionospheric electron content.  The Upper Atmosphere Remote Sensing (UARS) Lab from UT Dallas will display real-time measurements of the ionospheric density over Dallas during the eclipse.

Make sure to check out the display at the Welcome Center during the event to witness first-hand the measurements throughout the weekend!
